Responsibilities:
Respiratory therapist job duties involve assisting patients of all ages who suffer from pulmonary (breathing) disorders.
In addition to analyzing and performing diagnostic testing, respiratory therapists must perform exams and control patients' blood-oxygen levels.
To monitor or assist breathing, respiratory therapists must also set up and use cardiopulmonary equipment - machines that can sometimes be hazardous and require careful adherence to safety precautions.
Requirements:
Must be a graduate of an approved program in respiratory therapy.
Must have BCLS, ACLS, PALS, NALS, or NRP preferred Must be able to follow instructions, work quickly and accurately in a fast paced environment.
Analytical and grammatical skills are necessary to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing.
Organizational and multi-tasking skills are essential.
Must be fluent in spoken and written English.
Must be able to fulfill the essential functions of the position.
